JB Sharp 2023 Wrap-Up

Well what a series!

Mother nature really put on a lovely show for the final JB Sharp Memorial Regatta at Leichhardt Rowing Club. Conditions were fine and flat on a fast stretch of water (a little shorter than the advertised 1,000m to allow for the finish to be judged from the club), and we saw plenty of fast-paced racing throughout the day.

There were a few especially competitive events, including the Men’s and Women’s Handicap sculls, and also the Under 16 and Novice sculling events, capping off a rather competitive season for these events.

Also of note was the historic Coxed Tub Fours event, held at the conclusion of the regatta, as a historic taster for competition next year in the series’ 100th year of competition. In this event, Balmain RC’s women’s four managed to pip the club’s men’s crew at the post, winning by 0.33 seconds (Leichhardt RC in third place). The full results for the series will be published on the website in due course, but we congratulate all competitors on a great season!
