JB Sharp 2021 – Dates Announced!

The 2021 JB Sharp Memorial Regatta Series dates have been confirmed! In consultation with Rowing NSW and to allow for the rescheduling of the Rowing NSW State Masters’ Championships, the JB Sharp Committee has rescheduled the Sharp Series regattas to commence on 18 July 2021, rather than on 4 July 2021 as previously announced.

This will allow clubs to compete at both the State Master’s championships and also to attend each round of the JB Sharp Series without having to split their rowers between two events. These dates will also ensure there is a fortnight between the end of the extended RNSW season, and the start of the JB Sharp Series, with a fortnight between each regatta in the series as well.

New for 2021, and in keeping with its commitment to growing rowing, the JB Sharp Series has expanded the competition for juniors, with a dedicated classification in the double sculls and pair event for under 16 competitors. All competitors who race these events will be classified as either Open / Intermediate, and/or Under 16, meaning that an Under 16 crew will earn points for their club toward the U16 pointscore, as well as toward the Open / Intermediate pointscore as required.

This change will hopefully give a greater incentive to clubs to enter junior rowers in both the under 16 single scull events, as well as in the double and pair oar events at the regattas this year.
